Urbis CCTV

This piece was displayed in the main entrance to the URBIS Gallery, Manchester. It was part of the Urban Myths exhibition on the 11th October 2007. At the time of this exhibition there was construction work being done throughout the building, preparing for another exhibition. The sound of drills and hammers echoed through the building and there was dust, ladders, tools and no-go areas all over the place. This video was created to incorporate the construction work into the exhibition, so it added to the atmosphere instead of detracting from it. At first glance it might appear to be live CCTV footage of people at work, but on closer inspection there is something else afoot...
